Tell us a little about you and your work with flowers.

A Little Love Studio is a Sydney-based floral and design studio founded by Wendy San in 2025. She leans into artful, sculptural and timeless designs for weddings and events to transform spaces and tell a story through blooms.

How did you first get into flowers?

After spending seven years working in the design industry as a digital product designer, I craved expressing my creativity through a physical medium - that’s when I became curious about flowers. I’ve always loved the idea of flowers as a medium as it is so versatile in what you get to play with, based on seasonality and location.

What are you working on or interested in right now?

I am currently in the ‘discovery’ period of my business - trying new things to find what really resonates with my practice and values as a creative. This is the most challenging part, but equally the most exciting.

What does your creative process usually look like from the beginning of an idea to the finished work?

Often it starts with seeking inspiration from books, travels or things I’ve recently saved. I then dissect what I love about it, and what I would want to experiment with and do differently. I am a visual processor, so I usually put together a moodboard or do some quick sketches before starting to play with the flowers themselves.

Which materials, flowers or techniques are you most drawn to at the moment?

I love to leverage the best of the season and find quirky materials that I might not have worked with before.

Where do you find inspiration outside the flower world?

I’m a big traveller so I love to find inspiration in the places I visit, but also learn from their practices, understanding where it might diverge or converge with what I’ve been exposed to.

What is something flowers have taught you?

To be patient and forgiving - not all flowers will be in season when you expect them, and each comes with its own set of challenges in terms of care and longevity.

What is one piece of advice, knowledge or inspiration you’d like to share with other flower people?

Find inspiration beyond Pinterest & Instagram - it can be something you come across on your daily walk, a new spot you’ve recently visited, or your cultural heritage. There is so much that exists beyond the screen, don’t forget to look and notice.
