03. Challenges · Flower Club 1000
Flower Club 1000
One thousand arrangements. Eight belts. A lifelong practice with flowers.
The goal isn't perfection. The goal is to make another arrangement. You'll be given a prompt, you'll make something, you'll photograph it and log it - and then you'll do it again.
Eight belts
Rather than one enormous goal, your body of work grows through belts. Each belt is $29 USD on its own, or included for Flower Club members.
The philosophy
The best way to learn is from doing.
What do all the best floral arrangers in the world have in common? They keep playing, and keep arranging over and over again. This challenge is designed to help you to keep arranging over and over again (and have fun while doing it).
Questions
Frequently asked questions
- What is the Flower Club 1000?
- The Flower Club 1000 is a long-term challenge to make one thousand flower arrangements. Progress is divided into eight belts, so the work is measured in stages rather than as one enormous goal.
- How long does it take to make 1,000 arrangements?
- There is no deadline. Most people work at it over years, making arrangements whenever they can. The point is to keep making another arrangement, not to finish quickly.
- Do I need to buy flowers for it?
- No. Garden cuttings, foraged material, supermarket flowers and single stems all count. What you log is your own practice.
- Are my arrangements public?
- Only if you choose. Each submission can be kept private, in which case only you can see its photographs, or shared with the community.
- How much does it cost?
- Each belt is $29 USD, or belts are included with Flower Club membership. Belts unlock in order as your body of work grows.
