Japan Ikebana Intensive | December 2026 | Flower Club International

Japan Ikebana Intensive | December 2026 | Flower Club International

From December 15th–22nd, 2026, we will spend eight days together across Tokyo and Fukui, immersing ourselves in flowers, ceramics, Japanese culture, workshops, gardens, and creative practice. This is a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience for anyone who loves ikebana and dreams of experiencing the ikebana world in Japan.

For one perfect week, we will be fully immersed in flowers, workshops, materials, gardens, pottery, Japanese culture, and the daily rhythm of ikebana life.

Rather than simply visiting Japan as a tourist, this trip is designed to give you the feeling of stepping inside the ikebana world itself - studying at Sogetsu Headquarters, staying near the Sogetsu kiln in Fukui, creating your own vessels and flower holders, visiting flower shops, completing daily ikebana assignments, and sharing the experience with a small group of people who love flowers just as much as you do.

The total cost is $7,880 AUD per person (approx $5,600 USD).

This includes:

  • Accommodation throughout the trip (Hotel New Otani in Tokyo, Japanese Ryokan in Fukui)
  • Daily breakfast
  • Dinner during our Fukui stay
  • Welcome Dinner
  • All ikebana and workshop activities
  • Train travel between Tokyo and Fukui
  • English-speaking guide in Fukui
  • Farewell Lunch

Hotel New Otani is considered something of an unofficial hotel for ikebana guests in Tokyo. The hotel is known for its beautiful floral displays throughout the property, expansive Japanese gardens, and close connection to the ikebana world. It is also within walking distance of Sogetsu Headquarters, making it the perfect base for our time in Tokyo.

Fukui is home to the Sogetsu kiln and is considered a sacred pilgrimage destination for Sogetsu students. During our time there, the experience will feel like a creative school camp, with daily kiln workshops, ikebana assignments, shared meals, and time to fully immerse ourselves in flowers, materials, and making together. As there is only one accommodation available for our group in Fukui, we will stay together in a traditional Japanese ryokan with shared rooms, which is all part of the experience.

**Flights and travel insurance and meals besides those stated are not included and will need to be organised by each individual.
