About the Workshop
Ahead of the busy holiday season, brush up on your freelance mindset with an experienced florist. Book more jobs, work with your dream florists, grow your experience in the industry. For those starting out in the industry, and experienced florists wanting to start freelancing or improve the way they freelance.
This session is for you if:
- You’ve recently finished your florist studies but haven’t had much first-hand experience yet
- You’re self-taught or untrained and want to know how to get started
- You’re stuck in the loop of needing experience to get work, and needing work to get experience
- Your resume and portfolio look great, but you’re just not getting booked
- You’re already working as a florist and want to start freelancing or approach it more strategically
- You run your own floral studio and want to create extra cash flow by freelancing during peak seasons
In this one-hour live online session, experienced florist Georgia James Potter (@slowflower__) will share practical advice and proven strategies from her 14 years in the industry — including a decade freelancing worldwide for leading floral studios.
You’ll learn how to:
- Understand the freelance mindset and what’s expected on the job
- Build a strong resume and portfolio that gets noticed
- Approach dream florists and secure opportunities
- Develop the right skillsets for both retail and on-site installation work
- Navigate privacy, image use, and professional conduct with confidence
- Stay inspired, fit, and healthy in high-pressure environments
Whether you’re looking to land your first freelance job or take your freelance career to the next level, this session will give you the tools and clarity to position yourself for real opportunities.

About Georgia James Potter
Georgia James Potter is a senior florist in her 14th year working with flowers, freelancing full-time for Europe’s major floral studios as @slowflower__. Classically trained and a Sogetsu Ikebana student, she co-founded and served as creative director of Braer in Australia before basing herself in Berlin and London.
Her experience as a business owner gives her a unique perspective as a freelancer, as does her broad skillset across both studio/on-site and retail floristry.
She regularly assists on the teams of Carolin Ruggaber; Studio De Pasquale; Studio Lilo; Lisa Langen; Studio Linné; Wishbone and more, working in Prague, Stockholm, Lisbon, Berlin and London on projects for Cartier, Hermes, Vogue, Mercedes and more.
As an artist, Georgia works with the two mediums she has adored since childhood - flowers and singing. She has designed for Aesop; Dom Pérignon; Moët & Chandon; St Agni and has been featured in Vogue Living; Rolling Stone and Australian House & Garden magazines. Her collaborations with photographer Mia Forrest’s Bloom series have been exhibited in LA, London and Paris. Under the moniker @moreton_ she is an award-winning published songwriter, incorporating florals into her art direction and set design, always with environmental principals at the forefront.
Her favourite flowers are anything petite & blue, Turquoise Jade Vine; ‘Jude the Obscure’ David Austin Rose; Australian Sturt Desert Pea and Australian Flannel Flower.
